John A. Romagnoli

John RomagnoliJohn Romagnoli was a 1946 graduate of Canastota High School, who received a football scholarship to Villanova University and went on to graduate from St. Bonaventure University. After college, he declined an opportunity to participate in the NY Giants training camp, deciding instead, to return home and help care for his widowed mother and work on the family’s small muck farm. Shortly thereafter, he married Lucy Maula and began his career in the contracting business.

John was the founder and co-founder of several successful contracting businesses, including Abscope Environmental, Inc. and CCI Companies, Inc., both of which continue to thrive today. CCI is a heavy highway contracting firm, while Abscope is an award winning national remediation company that has successfully performed projects throughout the Northeastern, Midwestern, and Southeastern United States, including the Gulf of Mexico. Collectively, the companies have performed well over ½ billion dollars in infrastructure/remediation work since their inception.

John was also a past president of the Canastota School Board as well as a recipient of theRomagnoli Graduation “Distinguished Alumni” and “Distinguished Citizen” awards. He also served on numerous community organizations. John and Lucy had four children – Jack, Jerry, Janice, and Robert, and ten grandchildren – Mark, Mary Kathryn, Joseph, Elizabeth, Kristen, Megan, Ryan, Ben, JT, and Andrew.
