FFA Spawning ProjectMembers of the Canastota chapter of the Future Farmers of America took part in a spawning workshop recently at the State University College at Morrisville.

The 17 who attended learned about the Trout in the Classroom program, which the Canastota FFA participates in each year.
According to the Trout Unlimited web site, the program “Trout (or Salmon) in the Classroom (TIC or SIC) offers students of all ages a chance to raise Salmonids in a classroom setting and then release them into a nearby stream or river. Caring for the fish fosters a conservation ethic in the students, and the act of walking to a stream bank and directly releasing the fingerlings into the water makes a concrete connection between caring for the fish and caring for the water.

Those who took part in the field trip were: Gavin Baker, Ken Basangan, Jackson Bumbolo, Clarence Card, Paul Campanella, Tim Collins, Bailey Doxtater, Kayden Hale, Kyle Hale, Colin Johnston, Jessica Kimball, Tyler Quinn, Sal Mariano, Kim Mitchell, Andrew Shantal, Max Sharkey, Jacob Whitmeyer and Konnor Stokes
