7th and 8th-grade students enjoyed meeting with two accomplished Syracuse University Football players, Dan Villari and Trebor Pena.
Dan, who transferred to Syracuse during the spring of 2022 and switched positions from quarterback to tight end, and Trebor, a versatile wide receiver who has played multiple positions since the 3rd grade, both major in Communications at SU and are due to graduate next week.
The pair visited Canastota CSD to discuss with the students the importance of critical issues such as perseverance, embracing diversity, anti-bullying, the significance of education, and treating others with respect.
Throughout their inspirational conversation, Dan and Trebor emphasized the importance of lifting each other up when faced with adversity and the notion that winning is a collective effort, not an individual one.
Furthermore, Dan and Trebor spoke about the challenges of balancing academic and athletic commitments, stressing that time management is the key to excelling in both areas. They encouraged students to adopt a 'student-athlete' mindset, highlighting the significance of maintaining a high GPA to remain eligible to play sports.
Dan and Trebor left the students with valuable advice: to utilize every spare moment to sharpen their skills, regardless of their interests or passions. They encouraged the students to practice relentlessly to become an expert in their field and strive for excellence in all aspects of life.
