Capital Project Vote Update:

Capital Project Vote Update:
The Building Excellence II Project was approved with a majority vote of 76% on Tuesday, December 5th. We want to express our gratitude for your support and investment in Canastota Central School District's students and infrastructure.

Total Votes = 297
YES = 226
NO = 71

The project was developed with two main priorities in mind: ensuring a safe and secure learning environment that best equips our students to face future challenges, while also maintaining a tax levy that is respectful to our taxpayers.

As part of the project, the traffic pattern at the Roberts Street Complex and South Side Elementary will be redesigned. This redesign includes the creation of separate bus and parent traffic loops, which will make arrival and dismissal times smoother for both sites. The redesigned bus loop and parent pick-up areas will significantly improve safety and efficiency at each building. The plan will also provide additional parking at Peterboro Street Elementary.

The project will also address renovations to large gathering spaces, such as the auditorium, gymnasiums, and cafeterias in each building. Instructional areas such as the art rooms at the Roberts Street Complex will be renovated, along with the main cooking kitchen and all serving kitchens.
We want to emphasize that the capital project will not result in any increase in local taxes. Once again, we would like to thank the community for their support and investment in the Canastota Central School District.
