National School Breakfast Week is celebrated every year from March 4th to the 8th to promote the importance of having a nutritious breakfast before starting the school day. This year, the Canastota lunch manager, Hollie Ackerman, plans to celebrate the week by designing a special breakfast menu for students.
Ms. Ackerman believes that it is essential to commemorate this week to remind students of the significance of starting their day with a healthy breakfast. Thanks to the Community Eligibility Program, all students can enjoy breakfast for free!
Complying with the nutritional values and regulations that all schools must adhere to, Ms. Ackerman and her staff have worked together to select options that are different from their regular weekly breakfast menu, which she knows that students will enjoy.
Here is a list of the breakfast menu items for the week of March 4th:
- Monday: National Pancake Day - Pancakes and Sausage
- Tuesday: Yogurt cup with Granola bar
- Wednesday: Scrambled Eggs and Ham
- Thursday: Bagel and Apple Slices with Peanut Butter
- Friday: Warm Cinnamon Bun
All cafeterias at CCSD will participate in National Breakfast Week, and the school community is grateful to Ms. Ackerman and her staff for making this possible.
