During a recent visit to Mrs. Stagnitti's Living Environment classes, Ms. Rachel Copland, Prevention Education Specialist from BRIDGES, spoke to students about the harmful effects of vaping. She provided a detailed explanation of why vaping is harmful and brainstormed with the students on the subject.
Rachel encouraged the students to speak up about why vaping is harmful and what makes it addictive. She also discussed the ways that vaping affects our brains, and how it can disrupt the hierarchy of survival. Additionally, Rachel explained the difference between a vape and an aerosol, and taught the students about the resources they can use to get help.
Many students were surprised to learn that vapes are actually aerosol and not just water vapor. This is an important point to remember, as it highlights the dangerous chemicals that are inhaled through vaping.
It is crucial to educate students on the harmful effects of vaping and the risks associated with it. The visit from BRIDGES was a valuable educational opportunity for CCSD students, and we are grateful for their help in spreading awareness about this important topic.
