Canastota students enrolled in the MOBOCES programs for Exercise Science, Sports Management, and Sports Marketing, housed at CCSD, recently had the opportunity to participate in two field trips. During the first trip, they watched a Syracuse Crunch game, which gave them a firsthand experience of what the games were like. During the second trip, they visited the Upstate Medical Arena at the Oncenter and had a chance to meet with various professionals, including an athletic trainer, physical therapist, head coach, and three hockey players.
They also broke off into small groups to learn about different areas, such as public relations and video, sales, sponsorship, game operations, merchandising, community relations, and broadcasting. This gave students an opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes of the game they watched.
