Dear Canastota School Community,
It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Canastota legend Don New earlier today. Mr. New was a proud graduate of Canastota Schools, as well as a teacher, coach, School Board President and first President of the Engage Canastota Education Foundation. In recognition of all of his numerous accomplishments, he was inducted into the Canastota Wall of Distinction. Canastota has truly lost one of its biggest advocates, nobody loved this community more than he did. Our thoughts are with his wife Debbie and the entire New family, as well as the extended family of so many people that were positively impacted by their interaction with him. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest Raiders that has ever come through our schools, and one of its most enthusiastic ambassadors.
